Ek Niranjan - Pure Mass Entertainer

Starring: Prabhas, Kangana Ranauth, Sonu Sood, Brahmanandam and others

Director: Puri Jagannath

Music: Mani Sarma

Release date: 29 October 29, 2009

Puri Jagannath teams up with Prabhas once again after Bujjigadu. The duo manages to work up some magic with Ek Niranjan and Prabhas comes up with an impressive performance in this pure mass entertainer.

Story:

Chotu (Prabhas) grows up as an orphan. He has been kidnapped in his childhood by a gagster who later employs him as a beggar. Chotu tips off the police about his kidnaper and he is jailed. For this, Chotu is paid a reward of one rupee by the police.

Chotu grows up to become a police informer. Chotu keeps asking him kidnaper to reveal the identity of his parents but he just keeps extracting money from Chotu by promising him that he will tell their identity soon.

Chotu meets a musician Sameera (Kangana Ranauth) and falls in love with her. Chotu also crosses swords with a dreaded gangster Johnny Bhai (Sonu Sood). Johnny gets a minister murdered on the instance of the minister’s brother Posani Krishna Murali.

Johnny now wants to eliminate Kailash (Mukul Dev) who has carried out the murder. Kailash is the eldest son of Taniekella Bharani and Sangeetha. He has run away from home in his childhood and joins the gang of Johnny bhai. Johnny tries to get Kailash killed as he does not want the secret of the minister’s murder known to anyone.

Chotu is after Kailash as he has been asked by the police commissioner to catch him for getting a huge reward. Sameera’s brother does not like his sister falling in love with Chotu and he takes her away to Bangkok. Incidentally he also works for Johnny bhai and is now running away from him after ditching him.

Chotu now goes to Bangkok in search of his lover and there he meets Kailash. Johnny also goes to Bangkok to catch Kailash. The rest of the story is how Chotu manages to eliminate the gangster and save Kailash and his lover. Chotu also manages to learn that his parents are Taniekella Bharani and Sangeetha and that Kailash is none other than his elder brother who ran away from home in his childhood. With this the film ends on a happy note.

Performance:

Prabhas comes up with a very impressive and energetic performance in the film. He has also improved a lot in his dialogue delivery. Prabhas impresses with his

all round performance – as lover, orphan, police informer who is tough but with a heart of gold. He also dances well.

Kangana Ranauth looks fresh and different from the regular heroines. She is okay as far as glamour department is concerned. Sonu Sood comes up with another brilliant performance after Arundathi. Taniekella Bharani, Sangeetha, Mukul Dev, Posani and others do a good job.

Brahmanandam, Ali, Sunil and Venu Madhav take care of the comedy department. Music is pleasant and the title song ‘Amma ledu Nanna  leedu…Ek Niranjan rocks.

Ek Niranjan is a good film from Prabhas and Puri Jagannath and it has enough mass elements to appeal to a wide section of the audience. The film is good entertainer.
