Release date: 19 June 19, 2009

Current is a teenage love story. The hero Sushanth falls in love with Sneha Ullal but she does not reciprocate his love as he is an irresponsible guy who has no goal or aim in life. The tussle between the two is the basis for the story:

Sushanth is the only son of Tanikella Bharani and Sudha. They love him very much but Sushanth like all the boys of his age has not time for parents and leads a carefree life. Sushanth falls in love with his classmate Sneha Ulllal. Unlike Sushanth, Sneha is a meticulous girl who plans everything in life. Se has a clear idea and a goal in life.

The hero somehow manages to woo her and make her fall in love with him. When Senha asks Sushanth to meet her father Charan Raj, he takes it easy and does not keep up the appointment. When he finally meets Sneha’s father, Sushanth fails to impress him with his careless attitude and lack of ambition to do something in life.

Sneha agrees with her father that Sushanth is not the right guy for him and agrees to marry her cousin. Despite her resolve Sneha is unable to forget Sushanth. So she asks him to make her forget him and erase the love for him from her heart. Sushanth takes it up as a challenge and goes about it seriously. How far he can succeed in his efforts? Will Sneha forget Sushanth and marry her cousin? The answers to this can be found on the silver screen.

Performance:

Sushanth plays a young college student who has no bother in the world quite convincingly. He has improved from his role in Kalidasu. He however still has only a few stock expressions and his surprised/shocked look has been repeated too many times in the film. He shows some ease in the dance sequences.

Sneha Ullal looks great and her acting skills are also getting better with every new film. She looks stunning in many scenes and she is sure to bag many more fans with Current.

Tanikella Bharani and Sudha are adequate in their roles. Charan Raj comes up with a neat performance. Shafi plays a baddie. Brahmanandam comes up with a routine performance. Raghu Babu manages to raise a few laughs. Shakeela appears after a long gap in a brief role.

Devi Sri Prasad’s music is okay and is in tune with the feel of the film. A couple of songs have been set to fast beats and the youngsters will no doubt lap it up.

The film is a youthful romantic and clean entertainer. The film will however appeal largely only to the college going youngsters. The film has very little to offer to the frontbenchers except for Sneha Ullal. The fate of the film now rests fully in the hands of the college students.
