Ride is a film about friendship and how two friends stand by one another in time of crisis. The main draw for the film; however, is the Kotha Bangaru Lokam heroine Swetha Basu Prasad.

Story:

Mahesh (Tanish) is the son of middle class parents Kasi Viswanath and Tulasi. He is studying B.Com second year. He has two younger sisters and after his father retires from service, he quits college and takes up a job in a chit fund company as collection executive to take care of the family. As the job requires him to have a two wheeler, Tanish’s mother sells off some silver lamps and gives him the money to buy a motorcycle.

Arjun (Nani) is the son of middle class parents Ahuthi Prasad and Sudha. Ahuthi is a caring father but does not realize the needs of his two sons. Arjun wants a bike and it becomes some sort of an obsession for him. His father however keeps on postponing the idea of buying a bike for his son.

Tanihs meets Swetha Basu Prasad and they both fall in love. Nani falls in love with aksha, his classmate in college and they also fall in love with one another. One day Tanish’s bike is stolen. Tanish is heartbroken as the bike is his lifeline. He gives a police complaint and keeps searching for his bike. He finds his bike one day and it is in the possession of Nani. Tanish takes the bike away and Nani is misunderstood as the one who stole it.

Nani has purchased the bike unknowingly from a guy who sells stolen bikes. The money for the bike is his hard earned money that came as prize money for winning a race. With both Nani and Tanish refusing to give up the claim on the bike, they come to a compromise. They decide to share the bike for half day each every day.

They become close friends after a few days. Just when everything seems fine, they get a big shock. The bike is stolen. This time, both Nani and Tanish are in a shock. Who stole the bike and why is he harassing them? Answers to this can be found on the screen.

Performance:

Tanish plays his role of a teenaged son of middle class parents well. He still has that innocent look in him and he looks cute for most part. Nani comes up with a good performance. His role has some negative shades and he portrays them very well. Swetha Basu Prasad plays a hot and sexy heroine. She looks quite glamororus and sports some trendy and revealing costumes. Aksha as the second heroine is okay.

Ahuthi Prasad, Kasi Viswanath, Sudha, Tulais, Brahmanadam and others add their bit to the film. The film has been set with a college backdrop but most of the film runs between the two heroes and their families. The music is okay and the fast and loud music will appeal to the college going crowd.

Ride has a decent plot but the screenplay is sketchy and the director also relies more on tried and tested formula than in experimenting. This turns the film into yet another routine stuff. The editing also is very sloppy.

Ride is a time pass film that will appeal to the college students. For many others, it is only the attraction of Swetha Basu Prasad. The film is an average entertainer.
