Rajavari Chepala Cheruvu

Starring: Posani, Giga, Kota, Brahmaji, Chalapthi Rao and others

Director: Posani Krishna Murali

Release date: 15 May 2009

The film Rajavari Chepala Cheruvu is a typical Posani brand film which looks at how corruption has permeated to all sections of the society. Posani plays a upright police officer in the film.

Story:

Posani is a strict police officer. His superiors do not like his honest and straightforward ways. Posani arrests the brother of a powerful MLA as he has attacked a girl for not falling in love with him. It is a reference to the acid attack incident in Warangal. Posani brings the culprit to book in his own way and these angers the MLA and the top brass of the police.

Posani is finally dismissed from service as he continues to be a thorn in the flesh for the police as well as politicians. He then decides to go to his village and set up a fish pond (Chepala Cheruvu) in a two acre plot. He applies for government permission and the same MLA whose brother Posani had arrested earlier now agrees to help him as the MLA will do anything for money.

Posani gets the license from the fisheries department, loan from the bank, environmental and other clearance etc. without anyone actually verifying the site for the pond. They all sign the papers blindly after being bribed heftily.

Posani even throws a lavish party to celebrate getting all necessary permissions to start his fish pond. The next day he goes to the police station and wants to lodge a complaint saying that someone has stolen his fish pond! The MLA and other government employees are stunned as he now threatens to expose them with evidence as there was no fish pond at all and he got all documents signed by the government officials, including a loan.

Posani shoots the entire thing on camera in the sting operation. The MLA is angry and wants to teach a lesson to Posani and he attacks his house and disrobes his wife and films her in the nude. He threatens to telecast the nude scenes on TV channels.

How Posani manages to tackle the issue and expose all the corrupt government officials and politicians is the remaining part of the story.

Performance:

Posani plays the min protagonist and he carries the role in his trademark style with powerful dialogues. He is okay in his role but gives too many lectures. Giga plays his wife and she is okay. Kota is routine while Sunil, Brahmanandam and Ali do manage to raise a few laughs with their comedy.

Posani raises several issues in the film and he also brings in the topic of Chiranjeevi by introducing a character named Mogalthur Sivaprasad (Giri Babu). Sivaprsad is shown as a man of character and strength and he enters politics to end corruption and serve the people.

The film is loaded with some double meaning dialogues and Posani mark humour. The film lacks enough entertainment values and the political angle is also a bit stale as the elections are over. So there is no way the film is going to make any difference to the fortunes of the Congress or the PRP.
